Reading about other widows stories & experiences of grief can be helpful for anyone experiencing bereavement. Sharing your story will help us raise awareness of the services that we provide so that other people can use them that might need the support. If you have an experience with grief or bereavement that you would like to share then we would love to hear from you.
We may use your story for the Widows Empowerment Trust website, media enquiries, social media or newsletters. We will not use any information that you provide without talking with you first. To get started, fill out the contact form. Once submitted, a member of our team will get in touch and talk to you in more detail.
Dawn lost her loving husband way too early. He died at the very young age of 47 years old after a tragic 7 weeks illness due to pancreatic cancer. They had been together for 29 years. Dawn has found it a challenge adjusting to being a solo parent in such a short timeframe.
She only lost her husband in June of last year. She has two young children, left to raise alone and she also became responsible for her parents who are extremely vulnerable during Covid-19. Not only has she faced new challenges with Covid-19 she's had to face them alone.
Dawn met Oyovwe in February to find out what services Widows Empowerment Trust could offer her. Our befriender Lesley was her first point of contact. Lesley helped her and put her in touch with another widow with young kids so that they could help support each other.
She looks forward to the arts & craft and bingo zoom calls as that gives her time to herself, have a laugh with others and take a break from her daily routine.
