We Promote Equality & Diversity

Although we are a charity for the well-being and social inclusion of widows and widowers, this is far from our only passion. The Widows Empowerment Trust works to promote diversity and equality and wants people to feel included and cared for no matter who they are. We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all our volunteers and our widows, widowers and their families.

We are committed to treating you fairly and equally no matter your age, religion, sexuality, economic status, disability, race and colour. We also promise to address and eliminate any unfairness, prejudice, discrimination if this is ever identified within the organisation. One of our core values is understanding and acceptance of all individuals and we work actively to promote this through the organisation.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering holds many benefits, some of which can last you a lifetime - not only for the people you are helping, but for you too. If you are undecided or you have doubts for whether volunteering is right for you, you might find yourself surprised at just how much you can gain from the experience:

Help Other People Less Fortunate

Bereavement can have a devastating effect on mental & physical health. Volunteering for us will give you the opportunity to help people going through a tough time. With your support you can help people get back to everyday life again.

Gain Valuable Experience

You'll be working with our team who are professionals within their field of work. You'll pickup skills here that you won't be able to get anywhere else. Volunteering highlights your determination, passion and character; making it look great on your CV!

Give Back To The Community

Volunteering allows you to make a difference to people around you and help give back to your community. Studies show this enriches your life and actually makes you feel happier!

Meet People & Make New Friends

Working in a team with a shared goal has the power to help you form bonds with strangers that can be life changing. The great thing about volunteering is that it connects people with shared values allowing you to create truly powerful friendships!

Boost Your Self Esteem & Confidence

Volunteering takes you out of your comfort zone and throws you straight into the deep end if you've never done anything like this before.  Studies show that experiences like these help to boost your self esteem and confidence.

Develop Your Existing Skills

We offer free training programs and workshops to constantly develop the skills of our volunteers. These training programs will help to develop your existing skills (amongst working with our professionals) and accredit you for your CV.
